Milestones in Utah Geocaching

As I was thinking about what to put on the back of our first UTAG Geocoin, I began wondering about Milestones we've passed during the admittedly short history we have here in Utah. If you know of others that should be included, or have corrections to those already listed, please let us know.

Here is what I've come up with, in chronological order:

08/27/2000: First Cache Placed in Utah.
The first cache placed in Utah was "Potters Pond" by leaper64 & dirk88. (Geocaching.com Waypoint: GC3B). It was placed on the hill just above Potter's Pond in Emery County.

08/10/2002: First Association Organization Meeting.
The first meeting to organize ourselves into an official association was held in Orem on this date. A committee of interested people was selected to further the effort of writing up our bylaws, mission statement, and deciding on an official name and logo.

09/04/2002: Official Name Selected.
At a meeting of the organizing committee, the official name of the organization was approved. We are now officially the "Utah Association of Geocachers" or UTAG, for short.

09/18/2002: 1000th Cache in Utah Placed.
The Cach-U-Nuts indicated in a forum post that he had placed the 1000th cache in Utah. I'm not sure which it was. Maybe he can say.

11/09/2002: Second Association Organization Meeting.
The second organizational meeting was held in Eureka. The committee presented the organization's Mission Statement and it was approved by unanimous vote. Plans for approving the newly drafted Bylaws were also presented.

01/22/2003: UTAG Logo Winner Announced.
The logo design submitted by Mrs. Cach-U-Nuts was declared the winner.

02/16/2003: Final Draft of Bylaws Posted.
The final draft of the UTAG Bylaws were posted on the UTAG Forums. Many thanks to UtahJean who headed up the effort to draft our Bylaws and make it a quality document. In order to become an official member of the Association, a person has to approve the Bylaws.

04/15/2003: First Election of Officers Ends.
The election of officers came to a close on this date. To see who was elected, click here.
